WHAT IS TGCT?

Also known as pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS) and giant cell tumor of the tendon sheath (GCT-TS)
Tenosynovial Giant Cell Tumor (TGCT) is a type of rare, locally aggressive, typically benign, tumor of the joint, tendon sheath, or bursae.

TGCT Stats

A 2017 Danish study found the population prevalence of 44 per 100,000 for localized TGCT and 12 per 100,000 for diffuse TGCT (7). Whereas, a 2017 Dutch study found 43 cases of TGCT per every million people; 29 cases per million of localized TGCT affecting fingers and toes, 10 cases per million of additional localized TGCT in other locations, and 4 cases per million of diffuse TGCT (5).
